Winners in the 2007 Rings N Things “Your Designs Rock!” contest were announced earlier this week! From the Rings N Things e-newsletter:

Our fourth annual design contest has proven once again that you — our
customers — are a gifted bunch! We love seeing what people are up to not
just in the USA, but around the world. So, we were happy to again receive a
strong international response. Entries this year came from the USA, US armed
forces overseas, Canada, the Turks & Caicos Islands (near the Bahamas), the
United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands and

From this impressive array of entries, we’re proud to announce that this
year’s grand-prize winner is Louise Little for her bracelet design
“Southwestern Petroglyphs.” In addition, we’ve awarded six first-place
prizes and 17 honorable mentions. To view all winners, plus “Polly’s Picks”
(non-winners that our catalog editor considers noteworthy), visit the
Contest Winners section of our Design Gallery:

I was also personally honored and excited to have two of my designs picked for Honorable Mention and Polly’s Picks in the Mostly Metal category. Owl’s Eyes and Sweet Denim Blue combine great stones available online from R&T with sterling silver jump rings for chainmaille that’s just a little out of the ordinary.

Congratulations to ALL the winners, and to everyone who entered. Start planning for next year now!

One of my favorite projects lately was a Byzantine bracelet (using colored copper wire) combined with rubber O rings (purchased from my hardware store) to make stretchy bracelets. They’ve also been a big hit with friends and customers!

I was referred to Fire Mountain Gems as a supplier for rubber O rings…and found they are available in every color of the rainbow!! At a few bucks for 300-500 rings, they are quite the bargain as well!

I’m anxious to try some additional weaves using rubber rings, so I’ll be ordering some this week!

It was a tough decision…we received so many wonderful entries! After reviewing all the photos carefully, Beading Help Web’s staff came to agreement on the winner and runners up in our “Is it Spring Yet???” contest.

Congratulations to Jennie Kwong, who took first place with this lovely bracelet that’s full of spring flowers. Looks like a garden that you could wear! Jennie is the recipient of a $25 gift certificate to Artbeads.com.

Congrats also to runners up Tanya Weiss (L) (Broken China Treasures) and Alexandria Dycus (R) – I love the originality of both of these designs! Tanya creates pendants and more from recycled broken china, an idea I love! Alexandria’s frog pendant is cute and she’s used some unique techniques in her necklace and bracelet set.

Thanks to all those who entered the contest – it was fun seeing your work!
