Swarovski Crystal
Swarovski crystals bring brilliance, sparkle and shine to jewelry. The process to create crystals was originated in Austrian by the Swarovski Company, over 100 years ago. These crystals contain 30-32% lead content and have remained popular for creating jewelry, figurines and collectibles, and even tattoos. Facets are cut through a patented machine process, which is safer than hand-cutting, and produces a more dazzling shine.
These man-made crystals come in hundreds of colors, shapes and sizes. Finishes can be natural or “AB” (Aurora Borealis) – an iridescent coating that allows the color to change as the crystal is viewed from different angles. Manfred Swarovski (founder Daniel Swaorvski’s grandson), worked with Christian Dior to perfect this process in the 1950′s.
Swarovski crystals are frequently used in Mother’s Bracelets as a less expensive alternative to common birthstones. Bead colors mimic semi-precious and precious stones, and the additional sparkle creates a lasting impression.
Use Swarovski crystals alone or with sterling or gold beads for a rich and dazzling look. Swarovski crystals are also an excellent accent bead for any stone or bead, adding reflection and brilliance to any piece.
