Sleek Wire Ear Bars

These earrings are so fun and fast to make, you'll find yourself making several at a time in every color of the rainbow! While my version has just a simple closed loop to hold beads in place, you can experiment with double loops, simple swirls or other shapes.

Sleek Wire Ear Bars photo by Beading Help WebFlush cut two sections of wire 3" long. To ensure my ear wires have the bend in the same place and at the same angle, I bend them both at the same time. The wires are lined up so they are perfectly flush next to each other, and I grasp both at the same time with a stepped pliers. Then I bend both wires to a 45 degree angle. One end of the wire is longer than the other, about 1/2".

Thread beads on the longer end. Be sure the top bead stops when it gets to the bend in the wire — if it continues to slide over the bend, you may loose the bead, so use a smaller bead at the very top.

After the beads are threaded, make a tiny closed loop at the end of the longer side of the ear bar to hold the beads on the wire. File or use a cup burr to smooth the end of the bar that will go through your piercing.

Repeat for second earring.
