Life’s a Beach!
May 30, 2007
Here we are, on a nice beach, and what am I doing? Why, looking for things to use in jewelry making, of course! In addition to being a nice momento from my trip, I love finding things like beach glass, agates and other nice smooth stones that can be wire wrapped, put in little bottles for pendants, or even drilled for a simple pendant.
Other things to find on the beach? Shells, driftwood, anything that can be worked into jewelry. Let your imagination run wild!!!

Got something to say?
I have an extremely stupid question and I can’t find the answer on the net anywhere, so I thought maybe you could help me if it wouldn’t be too much trouble. I have pendant beads that are drilled straight through the front of the top. How do I attach them to a chain? I only know how to use straight pins or to just use beads that will string directly onto a chain because they are drilled side to side. I don’t know what to do about a drill that is in the center of the top of the bead. I tried using a ring that would be used on a charm bracelet to attach a charm, but of course once I finally bent it all out of shape trying to get it through the hole, it looked terrible. I am sure that there is some name for some hardware product and I just can’t find it because I don’t know the termonology. Can you help me please? Thank you so much for your time! Melissa
Hi Melissa, I think what you are describing is a briolette…I do have some instructions on how to wrap them. Use the thickest wire you can get through the drilled hole, and practice, practice, practice. You’ll get to the point where you can wrap a briolette in no time!
Here’s the link to the instructions: http://www.beadinghelpweb.com/basics/wrapbriolette.htm
